Akuna Bay Cruising Club

2006 - Another GREAT Beach Ball

Wednesday 22 February, 2006

Saturday afternoon February 18th saw a working bee of Club Members turn Hallett's Beach into a wonderful setting of decorated marquis, tables and chairs, with fairy lights and floodlights, patiently awaiting nightfall. As darkness finally approached a flotilla of rubber duckies made their way to the beach each carrying Club Members in their best "Beach Formal" wear, check out the photos in the "photo gallery" and you'll see what I mean.

The food was a veritable banquet, supplied by "As You Like It Catering", comprising a huge variety with more than enough for the gathered throng. Despite a brief but serious downpour provided by a passing thunderstorm, the spirit of the night would not be dampened, in fact in some ways it only added to the fun and frivolity.

The night continued well beyond the witching hour for many, when the weary but happy boaties made their way back to their boats anchored just off the beach.

The following morning saw a weary but enthusiastic group, lead by Commodore Steve, pack up the equipment, remove the rubbish and return the pristine beach to the goanna family.

Another highly successful Cruising Club event, made possible by the sterling efforts of the Club Committee and many willing hands on the day.
