NEWCASTLE
LONELY PLANET VOTED IT AS ONE OF THE 10 MUST SEE CITIES OF THE WORLD
Being only 60 nautical miles north of Sydney Heads it is just an easy day sail to Australia's busiest & prettiest working harbour. After sailing past some of the most pristine beaches on the east coast you will arrive at a safe, deep & easy access harbour entrance to the Port of Newcastle which boasts some 4600 shipping movements per annum moving over 164 million tonnes.
The modern 180 berth marina owned by Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) is just 2 miles from the harbour entrance. Offering competitive berthing rates for vessels up to 30m LOA the facility has a reputation for being most welcoming & hospitable with a strong focus on customer service. Every berth has 240 volt power supply as well as fresh water. All access to the marina is controlled by a modern key card system giving good security from the land. Marina amenities include ensuite bathrooms and coin operated washing & drying machines. Diesel & PULP fuel is available 24 hours by use of an Outdoor Payment Terminal plus there is a waste pumpout facility.
The modern licensed club of NCYC is located right at the marina. With a casual atmosphere, waterfront ambience and friendly staff you can be served lunch & dinner daily plus breakfast is served on Sundays. Free Wi Fi is available from within the club as well.
Extra services in the facility include a reputable boutique boatyard with 40 tonne travel lift, large enclosed paint shed & full shipwright service. The site also has a chandlery/rigger/Norths sail loft located in the carpark side of the commercial building plus you can have access to mobile marine trades such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or refrigeration as required.
Unlike other marinas NCYC is located near the city centre allowing you easy access to many other services often required by the coastal cruiser.
Transport options include a local bus stop adjacent to the club, hire car outlet across the road, the nearest train station is five minutes away by taxi & Williamtown airport is 25 minutes taxi ride away as well
Hardware & electrical trade outlets are across the road.
A large shopping complex including Coles, Woolworths, BIG W, Dan Murphy & many specialty stores is just a 10 minute flat walk away.
Various waterfront dining options are available within a short walk from the complex
There is much to see & do all within a short walk along the waterfront from the NCYC complex-these include a maritime centre, museum, art gallery, historic fort, Nobby's lighthouse, theatres plus many shops & cafes.
Newcastle is also the gateway to the Hunter Valley. If you appreciate good food & wine, you will enjoy the vineyard area with its many restaurants & specialty shops or take a winery tour & sample some of the famous wine names synominous with the Hunter Valley.
