MIND YOUR WASH - Maritime are getting serious

Wednesday 14 January, 2009

On Sunday, January 11th at least two of our Club Members were stopped by Maritime officers at Cottage Point, returning to Akuna bay. Whilst both boats had slowed to an appropriate speed at Cottage Point, the issue was that they had not slowed early enough.

On approaching Cottage Point from the east. there are a couple of 'No Wash' signs on the northern shore, well before reaching Cottage Point. The officer claimed that slowing down after passing these signs, causes significant wash to the Cottage Point moorings.

No fines were issued, just a serious warning!

It wasn't appropriate to argue, the signs are there, and should be obeyed by responsible boaties (like us ABCC Members)
