Akuna Bay Cruising Club

Peat's Bite Long Lunch

Saturday 26 April, 2008

A great crowd and perfect weather ensured another great Club event at Peat's Bite. The weekend actually started on the Friday (Anzac Day) evening where many Club Members and their families enjoyed sunset cocktails on Refuge Beach.

With most boats departing from Refuge Bay on the Saturday, it was a great to be part of a procession of 15 Club boats heading up the Hawkesbury. This set the scene for a wonderful day. We all anchored of Peat's, and made our way to the restaurant for a 1 o'clock start.

As always the food was excellent, with the perfect weather and the enthusiastic crowd ensuring that a great time was had by all. It's been said before, but the annual Peat's Bite lunch is a lot more than just the food, it's always a great experience, further enhanced by the night at anchor off the restaurant.

This year was no exception, with groups gathered on several boats to prolong the joy of the day. Probably the most noteworthy were the crowd on "My Dream", where Bill McGowan once again proved to be the consummate host. The music was terrific too.

All in all, another successful Club event, enjoyed by the 40 who attended.
