Kim's Diary - Week 15

Monday 20 August, 2007

Monday 13 August 2007
4.30pm Dee Why Fitness First
Quick blast on the treadmill for cardio training, 5 mins at 10kph, 5 mins at 11kph, 5 mins at 12kph. No boxing because Bow did her knee at hockey over the weekend.

Tuesday 14 August 2007
6.30am Dee Why Fitness First
Penny and Bow for a good hard session of arms and chest (It hurts me to type this at the moment) then into the pool for some quick laps.
6.30pm Pyrmont
Tonight was a good night to drop the boat on my left leg again! Now, I have a bruise that extends the length of my left thigh, very attractive. A very cold night, short sharp session and off the water.

Wednesday 15 August 2007
4.00pm Dee Why Fitness First
Try out my new program, starting with 10 mins on bike at level 7 resistance holding 80 rpms. Then punch out 2 kms in 10 mins on the treadmill, no worries. Then start the weights part.....only get half way through before I have to leave for my massage appointment. My masseur, Sam gives my pecs and arms a good going over after the weights session I had with Penny on Tuesday.

Thursday 16 August 2007
11am Dee Why Fitness First
Penny and Sue for a cardio and legs session. Finish off on the treadmill and Penny cranks the treadmill up to 15.5 and I felt really good. I think the break that I have taken over the last week or so has done me some real good. I feel fresh again and still not carrying any injuries unlike some of my paddling colleagues that seem to suffer a lot from niggling concerns...rotator cuffs, shoulders, knees, hamstrings etc.

6.30pm Pyrmont
Jump on the erg for my first attempt at our final test of 2 minutes. I record 378 metres in 2 minutes on my strong side which is my best result ever! I think I could do a little better than that. Then out in the boats with mixed teams again. Just a light training session tonight they promise because of our water trials on Saturday. Well, EXCUSE ME, if that was a light training session, I'll be horn-swaggled!!
It was the hardest session we've ever had if you ask me and I had the s!^ts. Level 4 paddling at 50 strokes, 55 strokes and 60 strokes a minute x 2 for a not inconsiderable distance. We were all truly buggered. Just resting for Friday now.

Saturday 18 August 2007
6am Pyrmont
Individual Water Trials again because the last ones at Penrith were dumped for some reason?? I feel that I put in a good effort and now I wait with my fingers tightly crossed to see if my work has been enough to earn me a spot in the Mixed team. After the trials, we have a another session with Dirk, our Aust team personal trainer. Lots of boxing, sprinting and sit-ups etc.

Sunday 19 August 2007
I would normally have training this afternoon but it was the AGM for the ABCC. As it was raining pussycats and poodles, I didn't mind missing this session at all.

4 weeks to go

See you next week.
