Kim's Diary - Week 5

Tuesday 12 June, 2007

Monday 4 June 2007
I forgot to mention that official weigh-in was last Saturday and I was 83.5 kg which is down from my original 87 kg (Dec 06). I had another go at 4km in 20mins (the Miracle Mile) and I'm getting closer!! 3.97 kms in 20 mins.

6.30pm Pyrmont
I had a bit of a "blonde" moment tonight. I took a step off the end of the boat ramp tonight which is about 4' above the floor of the harbour, so I started off the training session by being completely soaked from the waist down. Wot an idiot! My only excuse is that it is dark and I didn't have my glasses on. Good session again though, men and women paddling together again, still going with the 35 strokes/min then 6 mins at 60 strokes per min then change sides without actually stopping the boat so you don't actually get a rest. We did this 4 times so 24 mins of continuous paddling all up. Another lovely night but definitely getting cold.

6pm Pyrmont
My do or die charge at the "erg" machine for this month. I have rested this week, so I hope I do a better result.
Well, my result was disappointing on the erg machine so I'm just going to ignore my results and press on.

Thursday 7 June 2007
Cold night, mixed teams again and hard session. 24 mins continuous paddling again at 60 strokes/min.
Training is called off on Saturday due to the extreme weather we experienced over the June Long Weekend. I spent the weekend down at Akuna Bay with other brave members but in the end we had power most of the weekend which is more than can be said of other people. I didn't do much training due to a combination of inclement weather and laziness. It all starts again on Tuesday.

See you next week for Week 6.
