Keith Turner at the Information Night on May 2, 2003

Tuesday 13 May, 2003

Well, we must be doing something right!!
Seems like most of us are having a lot of fun and Club membership just keeps on increasing, we currently have a membership of 50 boats and growing. A very big thanks from Jenny and myself for the support the Members are giving to us and to the Club, it certainly makes the effort put in by your Committee worthwhile.

Our most recent events have been well supported and successful. The Information and Wine tasting night attracted almost 40 of us to hear a very interesting presentation by Michael Chapman, President of the Boat Owners Association. The efforts of this group are certainly worthy of our support and I encourage all members to join this Association in the interest of all boaties. The Wine tasting after Michael's presentation was also well supported with the fellowship continuing until fairly late.

Peat's Bite, well what can I say??
This started in an impromptu fashion at 7.30pm on Friday Night at the Akuna Bay Restaurant (for some of us), and finished late Sunday afternoon back at Akuna (for some of us) and included a dame fine lunch, afternoon and evening at Peat's Bite somewhere in between. Over 40 members and friends shared in some, or all of this event, to those who missed out - SORRY!! But don't miss next year!!

Information Night, Friday May 2nd
Another successful evening, with almost 50 members 'christening' the newly refurbished Club Room. Leif Albertson once again entertained and educated us in his usual style and it is doubtful that anyone left the room without a few ideas that will make their boating a little easier. Special thanks to Rodney, Paul and Matt for their assistance with the Barbeque.

Our next scheduled events are:
Queen's Birthday Weekend (June 7/8/9) - We plan on "Cruising" to Sydney Harbour on the Saturday (weather permitting), then dinner and overnight in Cockle Bay. This promises to be a great weekend and those not wishing to take their boats can make the trip with those who do, or just drive in and join us for a meal at Darling Harbour.
More details later.

Sunday June 15th - Our Second Annual Golf Day, to be hosted by Barry & Marcie Southern, at Gordon Golf Club, proceeds to Charity. More details later, but be sure to put it in your diary (ability to play golf is optional.

D'Albora News
It was sad to hear of the departure of Michelle Anderson, who had always shown keen support of the Cruising Club, and we certainly wish her well in her future endeavours.

It is similarly a pleasure to welcome Gus Pallett, the new manager to Akuna Bay. Gus has pledged strong support for the Club and this has been made even more evident by his offer of significant fuel discounts to Club Members. We wish Gus all the best and offer the team every support in making the Marina a better place to be.

We also welcome Jed Hahn, the new owner of Café Akuna. Remember it is in our interests to support the services provided at Akuna Bay wherever possible. Make yourself known to Jed, as he will be striving very hard to provide this revitalised and welcomed facility at our Marina.

See you on the water

Keith and Jenny
