Akuna Bay Cruising Club

Commodore's Message

Tuesday 22 February, 2005

Well the Beach Ball is fully booked and we look forward to another great evening on Hallett's Beach on February 5th.
All you need to know is in the "EVENTS" link, but if you feel there is something we may have overlooked, please let us know.

Shame about the Australia Day Cocktails on Refuge Beach, despite the great success of previous years, it would appear that mid-week Australia Days don't work for many of us.I believe there were a few members in Refuge Bay, but unfortunately no one started the party !!

Great to see the Club moorings being so well used, in particular the multiple raft-ups indicating the friendships being formed within the Club.
Remember it is an obligation (and common courtesy) to accept another Club boat in a raft-up situation if requested.
Commonsense and Good Seamanship suggest that no more than three boats be rafted on a single mooring in anything less than ideal conditions. Whilst our moorings can be considered secure and well maintained, always be aware of the conditions and consider the safety of those aboard. It is also worth having a mooring rope to more than one of the rafted boats.

Mike and Wendy McLaren have kindly prepared an article entitled "Tips & Tricks", which has been included "verbatim" in the "NEWS" link. It is self explanatory and includes many suggestions and ideas, some you may know, others may appear to be common sense, but how often do we overlook that ??
Hopefully the McLaren's "Tips & Tricks" may prompt a few more contributions from members. You may not agree with all of it, maybe you have some alternate, or better "Tips & Tricks". Either way give us some feedback to share with other members.

A big thanks to Mike and Wendy for their contribution.

Don't forget the annual Peat's Bite lunch in April, full details in "EVENTS". Please assist by booking early if you want to attend, this saves a lot of phone calls by the committee.

The Club Membership list is now up-to-date, so if you want to know who's in the Club, see "Newsletters & Forms". We show member and boat names only for obvious reasons of privacy.

Ideas and contributions always welcome, just email to kmturner@bigpond.net.au

see you on the water
