Akuna Bay Cruising Club

Commodore's Message

Sunday 04 April, 2004

With cooler weather and shorter days ahead, let's reflect on the last few months of the Club's activities, it's been a lot of fun.

The "Beach Ball" was an outstanding success, just ask any of the 60 members who were present and if that doesn't convince you, check out the pictures in photo gallery.

The problem we now have is 'how do we improve on that??", but I guess that's an issue for next year's committee.

Our last 'Information Night'(26th March) gave us the opportunity to thank the Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade for their efforts in controlling the fire that could have so easily wiped out Akuna Bay.

What a great group of people they were and so appreciative of our thanks in asking them to our meeting.

Then there was "Peat's Bite" (27th March).
Almost 40 of us made the trip, with most staying overnight on the "Peat's Bite" marina. A brilliant day, brilliant food and brilliant company, this annual event just keeps getting better.

There are more events in the pipeline, just check the "Events" link and note them in your diary.

On another positive note, Club membership now stands at 65 boats (about 130 members),
so I guess we must be fulfilling a few boating needs and more importantly, creating some new friendships.
