Akuna Bay Cruising Club

Commodore's Message

Thursday 04 August, 2016

Dear Members,
Another year has flashed by and the Akuna Bay Cruising Club has, again, had some well attended and fun social activities.
The arrival of Pilu at Akuna Bay has led to some fabulous long lunches and subsequent gatherings at various 'Arm Parties'.
Peats Bite was well attended but our April cruise to Gosford only had 2 boats make the trip- Jeff and Trish Sheehan on Cool Change and Margaret and I on SezAm. We attended a lovely dinner with our Gosford Members and the visit was worthwhile.
The Beach Ball was again booked out and our great mate Dennis Stokes and his helpers delivered a gourmet feed. Weather was perfect (4 years in a row!!!) and the beach was still crowded until midnight.
We conducted a member survey earlier in the year and received 12 responses - which probably confirms most ABCC Members join to use the Moorings which is absolutely fine.
A key point in the surveys returned was a request for more 'on water' activities.
We did have a good turnout for our trip to d'Albora's upgraded marina at The Spit, but virtually no-one attended the Gosford cruise and the June Raft Up had only 2 boats registered (weather was a factor here).
Two stalwarts of the ABCC in Mike McLaren and former Commodore Stephen Smith will step down ftom the Committee and they are taking a break from boating.
We do need some renewal on the Committee and we look forward to some new nominations at the AGM on Saturday 20 August.
I have been Commodore for 3 years and if elected, will stand for 1 more year at which time I'll stand down.

Once again, I refer you to the ABCC website, which has information on all things Akuna Bay Cruising Club.
The AGM and lunch will be held at Pilu Akuna Bay and will be $40 per head for Members and their partners and $75 per head for other guests who are welcome to attend.
I do hope you can make it!
The Committee and I look forward to seeing you at the AGM.

Safe Boating and Kind Regards,

Bob Taylor
